Moving off Bubble

How KodExport moves your Bubble app to code

How a move off Bubble works with KodExport: from a $500 inspection to a codebase you own on AWS and Cloudflare, in weeks, not months.

Think of us as movers for your Bubble app. Every move starts with a walkthrough, then you choose how much of the lifting you want to do.

  • You pack, we load. You build on the exported code with Claude Code or Codex. We review it, fix what breaks, move your data and users, and handle the launch. It starts at $1,500 a month.
  • Full-service move. We rebuild the app, move the data and users, and launch it on AWS and Cloudflare. It starts at $2,500 a month, scoped from the inspection.

Your Bubble app stays live the whole time. Just need your public pages? Pack them yourself with the site export.

What happens at each step

1. Site inspection ($500)

Movers walk through the house before they quote. We go through your app the same way.

  • Walk through your app’s pages, features and user flows
  • Identify plugins and their code equivalents
  • Review the database structure and how the data types relate
  • Assess backend workflows, scheduled tasks and API integrations
  • Flag the fragile items: data, logins, payments, SEO and any regulated data
  • Propose the destination on AWS and Cloudflare

You get a written plan and a fixed quote, and you decide afterwards whether to move. Book an inspection.

2. Code conversion (1–6 weeks, depending on complexity)

We rebuild your app as clean, production-ready code, working from your live app.

  • Frontend: Bubble pages become Next.js/React components with responsive design
  • Backend: Bubble workflows become Node.js API routes and server-side logic
  • Database: Bubble data types become a PostgreSQL schema with proper relationships
  • Auth: Bubble login becomes modern authentication (NextAuth, Clerk or custom)
  • APIs: Bubble API connectors become direct integrations with proper error handling
  • Plugins: Bubble plugin functionality becomes JavaScript/npm equivalents

Your Bubble app stays live and fully functional during this phase.

3. Quality assurance (included in the timeline)

We test the new app against your live one, screen by screen, before anything switches over.

  • Page-by-page comparison against the original Bubble app
  • User flow testing: signup, login, create/read/update/delete operations, payments
  • Responsive design checks across devices
  • Performance benchmarking of load and API response times
  • Database integrity checks
  • A staging deployment for you to review

You test the staging deployment yourself before approving final delivery.

4. Delivery and handoff

You receive everything you need to run and extend the app independently.

  • The complete source code, deployed to your GitHub
  • Database schema and migration files
  • API documentation
  • Deployment instructions for your chosen hosting platform
  • A live walkthrough of the codebase
  • 30 days of fixes after handoff

You own the code, control the hosting, and can hire any React developer to extend it.

How long it takes

Timelines depend on the size and complexity of the app. Most projects run 1–8 weeks, start to finish.

App sizeTypical scopeTypical timeline
SmallUp to 5 pages: landing pages, simple dashboards, basic CRUD apps, MVPs1–2 weeks
MediumUp to 15 pages: SaaS apps, marketplaces, multi-role platforms, apps with payment flows2–4 weeks
Large15+ pages: complex platforms, heavy API integrations, compliance-critical apps4–8 weeks

Unusual plugin dependencies or custom requirements can extend these.

What we need from you

  • Your live app’s address
  • CSV or JSON exports of your data, if the move includes your database (we can guide you through this)
  • A list of the plugins you use and what each is for
  • Which features are critical and which are nice to have
  • Quick answers to clarifying questions during the project

We only ask for access to the Bubble editor if the agreed scope needs it.
